Your mistakes don't disqualify you
Today's devotional is based on one of the most beautiful and poetic verses in the whole Bible. Taken from Psalm 137, this scripture reflects the level of love that you must have with God.
By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. There on the poplars we hung our harps, for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!” How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a strange land?
The Children of Israel were asked to sing songs of Joy by the same people who oppressed them! There will be times you have to trust God, when it seems like everything around you is telling you to give up on God.
I will be the first to tell you, God Answers Prayer. In fact my first experiences with God happened during prayer. There were some real difficult moments in my younger years, where I felt the move of God so real in my life. I knew then what I know now: God is a Prayer answering God.
You might be in a season right now, where it feels like you are in a strange land. Everything around you looks strange, and you are struggling to hear the voice of God. I am here to tell you to not give up your hope in God. This is a time for you to have persistent faith. Faith is not always rosy, Faith does not always make sense. Faith is not a straight, logical line. Faith comes with some twists and turns. So wherever you find yourself right now, I want you to know God is with you. The bible says if "I ascend to the highest mountains, God is there, and if I make my need in the lowest valley, God is there also." I KNOW it is tough right now, But you are God's chosen people. You are a Royal Priesthood, made in God's image.
The Children of Israel had to Sing the songs of Zion while they were in exile in Babylon. They had to sing about God, while they were captives. BUT THEY KEPT ON SINGING. Beloved I declare that you keep on Singing. Keep on trusting. Keep on believing. Keep on holding your head High, for indeed you will see the Goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
