You Are Living in The Prayers of Your Forefathers, Gratefulness is an essential component to increased blessings
There are times in life when the promises God has made to you will be questioned by the circumstances around you. In fact if we were honest this morning, we would all admit that we question how can we follow God when we feel wounded? Many of us who believe in Christ are often ashamed to admit that following the way of Jesus and staying true to the Word that has been spoken over our lives can be extremely difficult.
Today's prayer and sermon will help you discover resources and tools to persevere.
I come to you, to ask you to help me accept myself as I am. I often criticize myself so badly, compare myself to others, that I often feel like I hate myself. I also don't like what I see in the mirror. These bad thoughts about myself make me feel small, resentful and unworthy of your love which makes me unable to love you and others as I should.
Please help me love myself as I am, to see myself as you see me. Please help me to accept my body with all its beauty and perfection just the way you made it. Give me the knowledge and the wisdom to know how to protect and keep it safe and healthy. Help me to never compromise my integrity, to be authentic, truthful and honest in everything, that I never again need to reject myself or sabotage my own happiness. From now on, let every action, every word, every reaction, every thought, and every emotion of mine, be based on love.
Help me, God, to trust you fully. Let the power of your love break all the lies I was programmed to believe, all the lies that tell me I am not good enough, strong enough, that I cannot make it. Let the power of your love be present in my whole being that I see myself and everyone through the eyes of your love. Help me that I no longer need to live my life according to other people’s expectations, but by your will. In the name of Jesus, Amen. Scripture for Meditation
Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) — "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."
Beloved, the enemy works through your thoughts to convince you that you are unworthy. But God calls you to redirect your mind toward truth—His truth about who you are in Christ. Your forefathers prayed for your breakthrough; now you must guard your thoughts like a precious inheritance.
1 John 3:1 (KJV) — "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not; because it knew him not."
You are not a mistake, family. You are a child of the Most High God, loved with an everlasting love that transcends your circumstances and your self-doubt. When you reject yourself, you reject the Father's handiwork and the prayers of those who believed in your destiny before you were born.
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) — "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."
Your life is shaped by what you believe about yourself. The self-criticism and shame you carry must be replaced with the mind of Christ—a mind that speaks life, blessing, and purpose over your existence.
Walking It Out
Speak affirmations rooted in Scripture over yourself daily. Each morning, look in the mirror and declare aloud: "I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am loved by God. I am worthy." Let your words align with God's Word, not the lies of the enemy.
Write down one thing you are grateful for about your body and one spiritual strength you possess. Gratefulness breaks the cycle of self-rejection. As you acknowledge God's work in your life, you unlock greater blessings and healing.
Spend intentional time in prayer, thanking God for the intercession of your spiritual ancestors. Ask God to reveal to you the specific prayers your forefathers prayed that are now being answered in your life. This gratitude positions you to receive what has already been decreed over you.
A Prayer for You
Father, I come before You with a humble and grateful heart, thanking You for the faithful prayers of those who came before me. Break every chain of self-hatred and rejection that binds me, and replace it with the knowledge of how deeply I am loved. Help me see myself through Your eyes—not as unworthy, but as a vessel of purpose, healing, and divine destiny. Let me stand in the authority of the prayers prayed over my life, walk in the fullness of my inheritance, and glorify You through the acceptance and love I show myself and others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
