When Healing Comes First
On this third day of our Destiny DNA journey, we focus on something many people skip over when pursuing purpose—healing.
In John 9, Jesus encounters a man who was blind from birth. The people around him immediately assumed his condition was punishment. They wanted to assign blame. But Jesus stopped all of that. He said: “This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
That one sentence changes everything.
Some of us were born into situations that tried to blind us—poverty, dysfunction, abuse, shame. Others of us went through seasons that dimmed our hope and clouded our vision. But here’s what I want you to understand today:
God doesn’t just heal for comfort—He heals for calling.
The man born blind didn’t ask to be healed—but Jesus saw him, stopped for him, and changed his entire reality. And the healing didn’t just restore sight—it gave him identity. When people questioned who he was, he boldly declared, “I am the man.”
When God heals you, He doesn't just fix what hurt—you start seeing yourself clearly again.
But notice this: healing came before purpose. Before the man could testify… before he could walk boldly… before he could even understand what had happened… Jesus had to touch the place that wasn’t working.
So today I’m asking you: what in your life hasn’t been working? What have you been hiding, surviving, or numbing instead of letting God heal?
Because healing isn’t optional. It’s foundational. You can’t step fully into your assignment if you’re still living with untreated wounds. You can’t lead clearly if you’re still bleeding silently.
But the good news is: Jesus sees you. Just like He saw that man in John 9, He sees the part of you that’s been blind, broken, or misunderstood—and He’s not walking past you. He’s walking toward you.
Let Him heal you so you can see again. Let Him restore you so you can finally say: “I am the one He healed.”
💬 QUOTE OF THE DAY "Healing doesn’t delay purpose—it prepares you for it." —ROHO
CALL TO ACTION Pray this today: “Lord, I’ve been functioning while wounded. But I don’t want to live that way anymore. Heal me at the root. Restore what’s been broken. Open my eyes—physically, spiritually, emotionally—and help me walk boldly into what You created me for. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Keep going. God’s not finished with you. ROHO
Scripture for Meditation
John 9:3 (NKJV)
"Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
God doesn't heal you because you deserved to suffer—He heals you so His glory can be seen through your restoration. Your pain was never about punishment; it was about positioning you for a testimony that only your healing could produce.
3 John 1:2 (NKJV)
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, even as your soul prospers."
Healing isn't selfish, family. God desires your wholeness—mind, body, and spirit—because a healthy you is a free you, ready to walk in full purpose without the weight of unresolved wounds.
Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Christ purchased your healing at the cross. It's not something you have to earn or prove you deserve—it's already been paid for. All that's left is for you to receive it.
Walking It Out
Name what needs healing. Don't be vague. Write down specifically—the shame you carry, the relationship that broke you, the dream that died, the pain you've been managing instead of releasing. Speak it in the presence of God. Darkness loses its power when it's named in the light.
Stop the narrative of blame. Examine whether you've accepted someone else's assignment of your pain—that you deserved it, caused it, or can't recover from it. Reject that lie today. Write a new sentence about yourself: "I am the one God is healing. I am whole. I am worthy."
Take one step toward healing today. Whether it's calling a counselor, having a hard conversation, forgiving someone (including yourself), or simply sitting quietly with God and allowing yourself to feel—do one intentional thing that moves you toward restoration instead than away from it.
A Prayer for You
Father, I come to You today asking for healing in the places I've been hiding. Remove the shame that was never mine to carry, and restore the sight I've lost to hurt and disappointment. Help me understand that You didn't abandon me in my pain—You were preparing to display Your power through my wholeness. Give me courage to let You touch what's broken, and wisdom to know that my healing is the foundation for my calling. In Jesus' name, Amen.
