When God Rewrites Your Resume
I didn’t plan to share this testimony, but God has a way of showing up right when you need Him. Earlier this year, I received an unexpected call from ROHO. I’ve been part of the ROHO family for a few years now, and though I’ve always felt connected through the daily devotionals, I never imagined getting a personal call.
He said he was checking in with a few subscribers, and when he asked how my day was going, I told him the truth, I was struggling. I had been at my job in Atlanta for over 11 years. It paid the bills and had great benefits, but my spirit was restless. I felt stuck and uninspired.
Just that week, I had been offered a new position at another company one that would completely change my routine, my coworkers, and my comfort zone. I didn’t know what to do. I was scared to leave what I knew, but I was equally afraid to stay where I no longer felt purpose.
ROHO took time to pray with me and reminded me that God never calls us into comfort. He calls us into calling. That day, I felt peace for the first time in months. I decided to step out on faith and accept the new position.
It’s been almost a year now, and I can say without a doubt it was the right decision. I have balance, joy, and work that actually feels meaningful. My manager respects me, my coworkers feel like family, and I’m no longer dreading Monday mornings.
That one conversation changed my perspective and my life. I’m walking in purpose again, and I thank God every day for using ROHO to remind me that He still answers prayers.

Scripture for Meditation
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) — "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Beloved, your resume—your credentials, your comfort, your 11 years of security—means nothing without His direction. God doesn't just want to manage your career; He wants to author your destiny. When you trust Him beyond what makes sense, He rewrites everything.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) — "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." That restlessness in your spirit wasn't punishment—it was invitation. God was repositioning you toward the abundance He had already planned. Your discomfort was His compass.
Joshua 1:8-9 (KJV) — "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." When you align your decisions with God's Word and His leading, success follows—not just material success, but the deep joy of walking in purpose.
Walking It Out
Name the fear you're currently sitting with. Is it a job change, a relationship decision, or a calling that requires leaving familiar ground? Write it down. Then ask yourself: "Am I staying in this because it's God's will, or because it's comfortable?" Comfort and calling are not the same.
Reach out to a trusted spiritual voice this week. Like this testimony's writer, you need someone to pray with you and speak truth into your uncertainty. Call a pastor, a mentor, a friend who walks with God. Don't wrestle this alone.
Take one concrete step toward the door God is opening. Update that resume. Make that phone call. Have that conversation. Faith without works is dead—God meets you at the edge of obedience, not in the comfort of hesitation.
A Prayer for You
Father God, I come to You today with all my fears about stepping into the unknown. You have never called me into comfort, but always into calling—and I receive that word with gratitude and trembling. Give me the courage to trust Your direction over my own understanding, and the wisdom to recognize when You are repositioning me for a greater purpose. Let me not mistake security for purpose, and help me move boldly toward the future You have already prepared. In Jesus' name, Amen.
