What the Emergency Room Taught Me About God’s Healing Power

Share

Several years ago, I visited a close friend who works as an emergency room physician. She was finishing a long shift, and as we sat in the hospital cafeteria talking about life, I casually mentioned, “Lately I haven’t been feeling like myself… maybe something is wrong.”

She put down her cup, looked me straight in the eye, and said something I never forgot:

“ROHO, your feelings aren’t always your diagnosis. Don’t let your emotions tell you what God didn’t say.”

That moment stayed with me for years because she was right. So many of us confuse how we feel with what God has declared. We let discomfort speak louder than destiny, and temporary moments convince us something permanent is broken.

As we walked toward the exit, she said, “In the ER, people often arrive panicked, but we treat symptoms differently from truth. You have to know the difference.”

Beloved, that is a spiritual lesson too.

Life will give you symptoms — fear, tiredness, doubt, frustration — but symptoms do not override God’s promises. Your emotions may shift daily, but God’s Word does not move.

There will be seasons when: * Your circumstances test what you believe * Your strength feels low * Your mind tries to assume the worst * You question whether you’re walking in the right direction

But even then, God remains a healer — of the body, the mind, and the spirit.

This is why the Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 (KJV):

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Sometimes you have to speak what you know, not what you feel.

When doubt rises, declare, “God is with me.” When fear whispers, declare, “God is my healer.” When life feels unsteady, declare, “God has called me for this.”

This weekend, take five minutes — just five — and speak God’s truth over your life. Not quietly in your mind, but out loud, so heaven and the enemy both hear it.

Your feelings are not your diagnosis. God’s Word is. And His Word says you will live, you will rise, and you will overcome.
