What Has Been Holding You Back? Let’s Take It To God Tonight
As we prepare to enter a new week, tonight we are standing together in intercessory prayer.
There are many people carrying burdens that have quietly been holding them back — fear, discouragement, unresolved struggles, or situations that feel impossible to overcome.
But tonight we bring those burdens before God.
Intercessory prayer means we stand in the gap for one another. We lift each other’s needs before the Lord and believe together that God has the power to break every chain and remove every obstacle.
If there is something that has been weighing on your heart or holding you back spiritually, emotionally, or physically, I invite you to submit your prayer request tonight (mailto:prayerline@roho.io?subject=Prayer%20Request%3A%20Something%20Has%20Been%20Holding%20Me%20Back) so we can lift your name before the Lord.
You can also submit the name of a loved one who needs strength, healing, or direction this week.
No burden is too heavy for God.
Scripture for Meditation
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) — "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
Beloved, God is not distant from your struggle. He is not waiting for you to be strong enough to handle it alone — He invites you to cast all your care upon Him. The weight you've been carrying was never meant for your shoulders alone.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) — "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
This is the pathway from bondage to freedom, family. When you bring your request before God—not in shame, but in faith—His peace becomes a fortress around your heart. That peace will guard what has been wounded and what has been weary.
Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV) — "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?"
God is not bound by what has held you back. He specializes in new beginnings. Whatever chains have wrapped around your progress, God is declaring tonight: I am doing something new in your life.
Walking It Out
1. Name it, then release it. Before bed tonight, write down one specific thing that has been holding you back—whether it's fear, a relationship, a health concern, or a blocked door. Don't minimize it. Then, literally or spiritually, place it in God's hands. Say aloud: "God, I release this to You. It is no longer mine to carry."
2. Stand in the gap for someone else. Send a message to one person you know who is struggling. Let them know you are praying for them this week. Intercessory prayer is not a solo act—it is a family standing together. Your intercession may be the very encouragement that breaks their chains.
3. Anchor yourself in one verse this week. Choose one of the scriptures above and speak it aloud each morning. Let it reshape your thinking. Every time doubt creeps in, return to God's Word. Your declaration of faith is more powerful than your circumstance.
A Prayer for You
Father, I come before You tonight on behalf of every person carrying what has been holding them back. I thank You that You see what others don't see and You care about what we have been too ashamed to speak. Break every chain—visible and invisible—that has kept Your people from stepping into their destiny. Give us the courage to lay down our burdens and the faith to believe that You are working even when we cannot see it. Let Your peace flood our hearts tonight, and let us rise tomorrow walking in the newness of what You are doing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
