Message For Those Dealing With Grief And Loss In This Season

Share

A key lesson of Faith is acceptance. There are times you simply have to accept God’s will for your life and those whom you love. There is no fighting, no debating God’s plans and purpose—you simply must relinquish control and say, not my will. But thy will be done, Dear God. As a preacher and Pastor, I have seen so many Good people who find it difficult to express this type of faith. To accept that God has a plan for you, even when you cannot see it for yourself !

You have been praying and fasting for God to work a miracle in your life, and it seems like God has not heard your prayers. God seems to be working on everyone else's problem, but yours! And you are facing the temptation to throw in the towel, but let me tell you from experience. I have seen Business People, who gave up too soon. I have seen married couples, who gave up too soon. I have seen people waiting on healing and deliverance, who gave up too soon. I want to encourage you today, to keep the faith! Hold to God's unchanging hand, God will come and see about you. God will answer your prayer!

1. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

2. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)

3. May the LORD, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand-fold more than you are and bless you, just as He has promised you! (Deuteronomy 1:11)

4. Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers. (Deuteronomy 30:9)

Scripture for Meditation

Romans 8:28 — "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (KJV) Beloved, your loss is not outside God's redemptive purpose. Even in this season of grief, the Lord is weaving your pain into a testimony that will minister to others and refine your own soul.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 — "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." (KJV) Your grief has a purpose, family. God meets you in your deepest sorrow so that you can extend His compassion to others walking through similar valleys.

Philippians 4:6-7 — "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus." (KJV) Even when your heart aches and questions rise up, bring them to God without shame. His peace will guard you where understanding fails.

Walking It Out

Name your grief aloud. Don't spiritualize your loss into silence. Tell God specifically what you miss—the voice, the laugh, the presence. Write it down or speak it in prayer. Acknowledgment is not faithlessness; it is honesty before the throne.

Reach toward one person this week. Contact a family member, friend, or grief counselor and share one memory or one feeling you've been carrying. Isolation amplifies sorrow, but shared burden becomes lighter. Your vulnerability may be the very word someone else needs to hear.

Set one intentional act of remembrance. Light a candle, plant a flower, prepare a favorite meal, or visit a meaningful place. Honor what was, and anchor your faith in the God who holds both the living and the dead in His eternal hands.

A Prayer for You

Father God, I come to You with a heart that is heavy with loss, but a spirit that still trusts in Your goodness. I cannot see the purpose in this pain right now, but I choose to believe that You are working all things together for my good and the glory of Your kingdom. Heal the broken places in me, strengthen my faith when doubt rises, and help me to honor those I have lost by living with the abundance and purpose You have promised. Give me grace to grieve without losing hope, and wisdom to let this season of sorrow become a season of spiritual growth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
