It’s time to face your giant
"Then David said to the Philistine, 'You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.'" — 1 Samuel 17:45 (NKJV)
Blessed Sunday Morning Beloved,
The reason most of us are intimidated by the "giants" in our lives—whether that’s a mountain of debt, a health crisis, or a broken relationship—is that we are looking at the giant’s height instead of our own help.
In 1 Samuel 17, the entire army of Israel was paralyzed by Goliath because they were measuring their physical stature against his. But David walked onto the battlefield with a different set of optics. He didn’t see a giant; he saw an "uncircumcised Philistine." In other words, David recognized that Goliath was big, but he wasn't covered. He was outside the covenant.
You need to understand that as a child of God, you are operating under a "covenantal covering." Your giant might be loud, and it might be imposing, but it is not connected to the Source of all power. You are. When you face your Goliath today, don't go in your own name, your own degrees, or your own bank account. Go in the name of the Lord of Hosts. When you stand in that Name, the giant isn't just a problem—it’s a platform for God’s glory to be revealed.
Reflect: Am I measuring my problem against my own strength, or against God’s covenant?
