I am taking your names to the Altar
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." — James 5:16 (KJV)
There is power in prayer. I know this for a fact. All throughout my life, I can attest that God has opened doors for me that my own hands could never reach. Prayer WORKS!
But as I shared with you this morning, prayer only becomes transformative when we are honest. For years, I sat in my father's living room holding my breath, keeping the "secret" that I was sabotaging my own peace. I was praying "safe" prayers because I didn't want to admit I was my own worst enemy.
I heard God say to me: "ROHO, YOU CAN'T BE HEALED FROM WHAT YOU WON'T REVEAL."
Tonight, the Altar is open. We are moving past the "safe" requests and getting to the heart of what’s holding you back. * Exhale the Secret: Don't carry the weight of self-sabotage into Monday. God isn't looking for a polished prayer; He’s looking for a sincere one. * Touch and Agree: When we unite our faith, the atmosphere changes. I am ready to stand in the gap for your breakthrough right now.
I am in the spirit right now, standing in the gap for this community. I want you to start thinking about that "Exhale" prayer right now. Don't settle for the surface-level request. Give me the real one.
I am waiting to receive your needs so we can touch and agree for a miracle that only God can perform.
Scripture for Meditation
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." — James 5:16 (NIV)
Beloved, healing begins the moment you stop performing and start revealing. The enemy wants you silent because your silence is his stronghold. When you speak your struggle aloud—to God and to a trusted witness—you pull the mask off shame and give the Holy Ghost room to work.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." — John 8:32 (KJV)
Family, you cannot be set free from what you refuse to name. That addiction, that broken relationship, that unforgiveness living in your chest—God already knows it. He's waiting for you to stop hiding so He can heal it. Truth-telling is the first step toward freedom.
"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." — James 5:14 (KJV)
There is power when the body of Christ stands together in agreement. You were never meant to carry this alone. God has placed people around you—spiritual mothers and fathers—who are ready to intercede. Let them help you bear this burden.
Walking It Out
1. Write it down tonight. Before Monday morning, write out the real prayer—the one you've been afraid to pray out loud. Not the surface request. The deep one. What are you sabotaging? What secret is stealing your peace? Put pen to paper and get honest with yourself and God.
2. Tell one trusted person by Wednesday. Reach out to a pastor, counselor, prayer partner, or mature believer. Share what you've been holding. This isn't gossip—it's liberation. Confession releases the grip shame has on your life.
3. Return to the Altar this week. Whether in church, in your prayer closet, or at a prayer circle, come back and let the body pray for you. Don't pray alone. Let the effectual, fervent prayers of the righteous work on your behalf.
A Prayer for You
Father, I come to You right now on behalf of my family member who is ready to exhale. Lord, give them the courage to speak what they've been hiding. Break the chains of shame and self-sabotage that have kept them bound. I stand in the gap with them tonight, and I declare that healing is coming—not because they're perfect, but because You are. Receive their honest prayer, their real petition, their unveiled heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
