God Will Look Beyond Your Faults To See Your Needs. Goodness and Mercy Are Chasing After You

Share

There are times in life when the promises God has made to you will be questioned by the circumstances around you. In fact if we were honest this morning, we would all admit that we question how can we follow God when we feel wounded? Many of us who believe in Christ are often ashamed to admit that following the way of Jesus and staying true to the Word that has been spoken over our lives can be extremely difficult.

Today's prayer and sermon will help you discover resources and tools to persevere.

I come to you, to ask you to help me accept myself as I am. I often criticize myself so badly, compare myself to others, that I often feel like I hate myself. I also don't like what I see in the mirror. These bad thoughts about myself make me feel small, resentful and unworthy of your love which makes me unable to love you and others as I should.

Please help me love myself as I am, to see myself as you see me. Please help me to accept my body with all its beauty and perfection just the way you made it. Give me the knowledge and the wisdom to know how to protect and keep it safe and healthy. Help me to never compromise my integrity, to be authentic, truthful and honest in everything, that I never again need to reject myself or sabotage my own happiness. From now on, let every action, every word, every reaction, every thought, and every emotion of mine, be based on love.

Help me, God, to trust you fully. Let the power of your love break all the lies I was programmed to believe, all the lies that tell me I am not good enough, strong enough, that I cannot make it. Let the power of your love be present in my whole being that I see myself and everyone through the eyes of your love. Help me that I no longer need to live my life according to other people’s expectations, but by your will. In the name of Jesus, Amen. Scripture for Meditation

Psalm 23:6 (KJV) — "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

Beloved, goodness and mercy are not standing still waiting for you to earn them—they are actively chasing you down. The word "follow" here means they pursue you relentlessly, even when you cannot see them. When self-rejection whispers lies about your worth, remember that God's goodness has already caught up with you and refuses to let you go.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) — "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Family, Christ did not wait for you to get yourself together, to love yourself perfectly, or to have all your thoughts right before He gave His life for you. He saw your need—not just your faults—and answered with the ultimate sacrifice. Your self-criticism cannot out-shout His love; your shame cannot outweigh His acceptance.

1 John 3:1 (KJV) — "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God."

You are not called a child of God because you are worthy. You are called a child of God because you are His. That identity is fixed, settled, and sealed—not by your performance, but by His heart toward you.

Walking It Out

First: Stand before a mirror today and speak one true thing God has said about you aloud. Not what you feel. Not what the world says. What Scripture declares. Say it three times and let it interrupt the cycle of self-rejection.

Second: Identify one area where you are harshest with yourself—your body, your mistakes, your progress—and replace that internal critic with a question: "How would Jesus speak to me right now?" Write down His response.

Third: When self-hatred tries to rise today, pause and ask: "Is this my voice or the enemy's voice?" Then declare aloud: "My life is not mine to reject. It belongs to God, and He is not finished with me."

A Prayer for You

Father, I come before You on behalf of every beloved who is warring against themselves. Break the power of every lie they have believed about their worth, their body, their potential. Help them see themselves through Your eyes—not as failures to be rejected, but as treasures to be protected and celebrated. Let goodness and mercy overtake them today in such a powerful way that self-hatred loses its grip forever. And give them the courage to accept the love You are already pouring out. In Jesus' name, Amen.
