God Will Lead You beside Still Waters, He Will Restore Your Soul. Taste and See that The Lord Is Good!
My grandmother used to say, even when God doesn’t take away the troubled waters of your life, he is the Bridge you can lean on no matter what storms may come your way.
The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down." (Psalm 145:14) (
If we’re honest, in spite of our good intentions to really be there for people, to stick with them “no matter what,” to love them “unconditionally,” we all fall short. At the same time, this reality is also true for those we look to for strength. Yes, we can look to family for help, but you know how it feels to be disappointed by the very people who promised to “uphold us” when we’re falling and to “raise us up” when we are bowed down.
The only one who has never disappointed me is God. God's faithfulness is best seen in our lord and savior Jesus Christ. If you look to another person to be this “Bridge over the troubled waters” of your life you are expecting someone else to do something only God can do for us.
Only God has the power to heal every disease. Only he can raise the dead, to create out of nothing. Only he has the strength to carry all our sins to the cross. Only he has the power to declare sinners into saints. And only he can promise to lift up those who are broken and bowed down and make good on his word.
Yes, even when God doesn’t take away the “troubled waters” of your life, he is the Bridge you can lean on no matter what storms may come your way.

Scripture for Meditation
Psalm 23:2-3 (KJV) — "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul." When life surrounds you with chaos and disappointment from those you trusted, remember that God's restoration isn't found in perfect circumstances—it's found in His presence. The still waters He leads you to aren't the absence of trouble, beloved; they're the peace that comes from knowing He is with you in the middle of it.
Psalm 34:8 (KJV) — "O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." Family will fail you. Friends will disappoint you. But when you taste God's goodness through His faithfulness, you discover a love that never runs dry. This is an invitation to experience Him, not just believe about Him—to know His character so deeply that trust becomes your natural response.
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) — "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." God doesn't promise to remove every relational wound or family conflict, but He promises His presence through it all. His right hand—the hand of power and righteousness—holds you steady when everyone else has let go.
Walking It Out
Identify one relationship where you've been disappointed and consciously release that person from the burden of being your "bridge." Write their name down, acknowledge the hurt, and then write beside it: "God alone can be my foundation here." This isn't about bitterness; it's about redirecting your trust to the One who won't fail.
Find your still waters this week. Set aside 20 minutes in a quiet place—early morning, a park bench, your car—and simply be present with God. Bring the specific relational pain you're carrying. Don't pray long prayers; just sit with Him and let His presence do what human words cannot.
Speak truth to someone in your circle who is bowed down. Tell them directly: "I can't fix this for you, and neither can anyone else—but God can. God will." Then pray with them. Be the person who points them to the Bridge, not the one who tries to be the bridge yourself.
A Prayer for You
Father, forgive me for expecting from people what only You can give. I release the disappointment I've carried from those who promised to be there but fell short—and I ask You to forgive them as You have forgiven me. Right now, I choose to lean on You as my Bridge, my Restorer, my unfailing Strength. Lead me beside still waters, Lord, and restore what brokenness has taken from my soul. Help me taste and see that You are good, and give me faith to trust You completely. In Jesus' name, Amen.
