"God is Preparing You For Something That Will Exceed Your Expectations""
We are all looking to change, grow, mature and transform our lives. It might be losing a few pounds, quitting caffeine or saving money—or something more substantial like controlling emotions, becoming more Christ-like or overcoming addiction.
Change is possible for a few days, but then we revert to our old ways. Transformation is different from change— Change is a superficial modification but transformation alters our core and manifests itself in our daily life. From God’s transformation in my own personal life and the lives’ of those I have pastored, I have found 3 Essential Elements for Transformation :
I often meet people who are stuck—so stuck they believe who they are is who they have to be for the rest of their life. They say things like, “There’s no hope,” “I’m a lost cause,” “This is how God wired me,” “Change is impossible.” God sent Jesus and gave us the bible not only to change us, but also to totally transform us—for this world and for eternity.
2. Identify and Define Specific Goals
To accomplish anything, we need goals. Leaving home with no goal of reaching work will get us nowhere. Randomness never helps us achieve goals. Unfortunately, we often have vague goals instead of specific ones. Goals help us focus on what we want, then allow us to precisely set our internal GPS to facilitate the most efficient path to our destination. Determining and identifying specific goals dramatically improves our chances of achieving them. Ask yourself today, what goals has God placed on my heart? Where is God calling me? How can I serve God today?

Certain changes might be necessary for health or financial reasons, while others might move us toward exciting opportunities. Regardless, change requires breaking old habits. Shedding the old self for a new one isn’t easy, so motivation is vital. Realizing the consequences of maintaining the status quo will energize you. At the same time, understanding the rewards of emotional and spiritual growth—especially as you reap the fruits of the spirit and honor God—is a supreme motivator. Remind yourself daily of the pros and cons of change to keep your motivation. The enemy will tell you that remaining stagnant is better than transforming, but he is lying.
Scripture for Meditation
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) — "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." Beloved, without a clear vision from God, we drift aimlessly through life, wasting the very resources and time He has given us. Your specific goals are not separate from God's purpose—they are the vehicle through which His vision becomes flesh in your daily living.
Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV) — "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." The Apostle Paul teaches us that transformation requires singularity of purpose—you cannot reach forward while holding onto yesterday. Define your goal, fix your eyes on it, and press forward with the determination of one who knows God has already prepared the blessing.
Proverbs 16:9 (KJV) — "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." When you align your specific, written goals with prayer and Scripture, you are inviting the Lord to direct each step. This is not presumption; this is partnership with the Almighty.
Walking It Out
Write down three specific financial or personal goals this week. Not "save money" or "do better"—but concrete targets: "Save $150 monthly," "Complete a financial literacy course by March," "Eliminate one recurring expense by next month." Specificity activates faith and focuses your GPS.
Connect each goal to a Scripture promise. If your goal is debt reduction, claim Proverbs 22:7. If it's building savings, meditate on Proverbs 21:5. Let God's Word undergird your intention so your goals become acts of obedience, not mere ambition.
Share your goal with an accountability partner in your faith community. Tell a trusted brother or sister in Christ what God is calling you to accomplish. Their prayers and encouragement will sustain you when the flesh grows weary.
A Prayer for You
Father, I come before You acknowledging that the transformation You desire in my life requires more than wishful thinking—it demands specific, prayerful intention. Open my eyes to see clearly what You are calling me to accomplish, and grant me the wisdom to define these goals with precision and faith. As I set my heart and my GPS toward the blessings You have already prepared, direct my steps and guard my heart from discouragement when the journey tests me. I trust that You are preparing me for something greater than I can imagine, and I commit these goals into Your hands today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
