Don’t rush the process—celebrate the progress

Share

Before you step into this Friday, take a deep breath and remind yourself: God is not finished with me yet.

This week may not have been perfect. Maybe you faced challenges that tested your patience, or you’re still waiting for an answer that hasn’t come. But beneath the surface—where faith takes root—something good is growing.

Growth isn’t loud. It doesn’t always come with applause. Sometimes it looks like restraint when you could have reacted. It looks like peace when you had every reason to worry. It looks like forgiveness, focus, and maturity taking shape inside you, quietly but powerfully.

You see, we often look for evidence of God’s work around us, but God’s greatest miracles usually begin within us. Before He shifts your situation, He strengthens your spirit. Before He opens a new door, He deepens your roots so you can stand firm when it opens.

So don’t despise this season of becoming. You’re being refined, not forgotten. Every test, every delay, every small victory—it’s all part of the preparation for the harvest that’s on the way.

When you can’t see the fruit yet, trust that the roots are growing deeper. When it feels like nothing is happening, remember that God does His best work underground.

Progress in Silence is Still Progress.

** Patience doesn’t mean standing still—it means standing strong. God is shaping something in you that will outlast the moment you’re in. Don’t rush what requires nurturing. What you’re praying for is already in motion; what you’re becoming is even more important than what you’re waiting on.

** If this devotional has spoken to your spirit, I invite you to sow a seed of gratitude today. Your giving keeps ROHO’s messages flowing to thousands who need a reminder that even small steps forward are still God’s direction.

Scripture for Meditation

Philippians 1:6 (KJV) — "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."

Beloved, God doesn't start what He won't finish. When you feel like your growth is too slow or your progress invisible, remember that the same God who began His work in your life is committed to completing it. He is not a God of unfinished business.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV) — "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."

The race requires endurance, not speed. When you're tempted to rush ahead or despair that you're not moving fast enough, fix your eyes on Jesus—He knows the pace you need and the finish line that's coming.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) — "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Waiting isn't weakness; it's the prerequisite for renewed strength. Every moment you trust God in silence is building the spiritual stamina you'll need for the breakthrough ahead.

Walking It Out

Identify one hidden victory from this week — Write down one moment where you showed restraint, chose peace, or extended grace instead of reacting the old way. This is evidence of the roots growing deeper. Celebrate it as progress, not perfection.

Plant something intentional today — Whether it's a prayer you commit to pray daily, a habit you're building, or a truth you're meditating on, choose one spiritual seed to nurture. Underground growth requires consistent tending. Show up for it.

Release one timeline to God — Name the one thing you're most impatient about. Write it down, then write beside it: "God's timing, not mine." Every time anxiety rises, return to that statement. This is how you practice trust while you wait.

A Prayer for You

Father, I come before You grateful that You are not finished with me yet. Forgive me for the times I've doubted the work You're doing beneath the surface, for despising seasons of becoming because I couldn't see the immediate fruit. Strengthen my roots, deepen my faith, and help me celebrate progress even when it's silent. I trust that what You're shaping in me will outlast every circumstance I'm facing. Thank You for loving me too much to rush me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
