5 scriptures to help realign your purpose. (July 22, 2024)
“What consumes your mind controls your life.” The truth remains that you will become what you think. Are you looking to God or are you praying to Him while your mind is on other things? You have to fight against these distractions. This doesn’t only apply to worship, but this also applies to all aspects of life. You cannot serve God while your heart and your mind are consumed with everything else. I’ve struggled with this. Sometimes you have to sit silently in prayer until your heart is aligned with God's. You have to wait for His presence and say: "God I just want you. God I need you!"
Many of us struggle with so many things and are being weighed down by the trials of life. If you would just focus on God you would understand that these things are just so small in comparison to God's awesome power. In fact the Bible says, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." (Romans 8:18) When you are not still our mind is going to be filled with so much noise from the trials around us. Sometimes you have to be alone with the Lord and be still before Him. Allow Him to calm your fears and worries.

** 5 scriptures to help realign your purpose. Romans 12:2
** Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
** For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
** I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
** Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
** In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Scripture for Meditation
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) — "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Your thoughts are not neutral, beloved—they are seeds. What you meditate on will take root and produce fruit in your life, either life-giving or destructive. Guard your mind as you would guard your most precious possession.
Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) — "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things." God is not asking you to deny reality, but to redirect your focus toward what builds faith rather than what breeds fear.
Psalm 42:5 (KJV) — "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance." Even your own soul needs to be reminded of the truth. Speak to yourself with authority—command your mind to align with God's promises.
Walking It Out
This week, schedule 15 minutes of silent prayer daily. No list, no agenda—just sit before God and wait for His presence. Let your mind settle like still water until you feel His peace. Write down one thing He speaks to your heart.
Identify one distraction that pulls your focus from God—whether it's worry about finances, relationships, or health—and write it down. Then write beside it: "This is smaller than my God." Read it aloud. Replace that thought pattern with a scripture that directly counters it.
Create a "meditation menu" of 3-5 scriptures you can recite when your mind becomes noisy. Keep them on your phone or written on a card. When anxiety rises, pull out that card and speak the Word aloud until your mind realigns.
A Prayer for You
Father, forgive me for the times I have prayed to You while my heart was elsewhere, distracted by the noise of this world. Right now, I ask You to still my mind and calm my anxious thoughts. Help me to see my struggles in light of Your infinite power and glory, and teach me to wait in silence until I feel Your presence. Give me the discipline to guard my thoughts, knowing that what I meditate on will shape who I become. I choose to think on You, Lord—Your faithfulness, Your strength, Your unfailing love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
