Scripture for Meditation

Matthew 17:21 (KJV) — "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."

Beloved, there are spiritual breakthroughs that will not come through ordinary means. When you couple your prayers with fasting, you are signaling to heaven that this matter is serious, that you are willing to deny your flesh to seek God's face. The disciplines of prayer and fasting work together to strengthen your spirit and weaken the grip of the enemy over your circumstances.

Nehemiah 1:4 (NKJV) — "So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven."

When Nehemiah learned of Jerusalem's broken walls, he didn't just pray—he fasted. His passion for restoration was expressed through sacrifice. Family, if you want to see your broken relationships healed, your marriages restored, your children returned to God, then your prayers must be accompanied by the weightiness of fasting.

Luke 2:37 (KJV) — "And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day."

Anna understood the secret: consistent fasting and prayer position you for divine encounters. She didn't just attend church—she surrendered her appetites to seek God's face. When you fast, you make room in your life for God to move in ways that busyness and comfort never allow.

Walking It Out

1. Join the ROHO Prayer Movement Today at 3PM — Stop what you are doing and add your name and your family's name to the prayer list right now. Speak your petition aloud. Whether it's a marriage that needs healing, a child who's wandered away, or a friendship broken by hurt, God is listening. Your voice matters, and your presence at that hour of prayer carries weight in the spirit.

2. Commit to a 24-Hour Fast This Week — Choose one full day to fast (water is permissible) while you intercede for the specific relationship God has laid on your heart. Use the time you would spend eating to pray, to read Scripture, to sit in silence before the Lord. Don't do it for show—do it as a private covenant between you and God.

3. Identify One Person Who Needs Prayer and Intercede Daily — Is there someone in your circle about to give up? A family member struggling? Call their name out to God each morning for the next seven days. Write their name down. Pray it. Fast a meal for them. Your intercession may be the spiritual covering they need to hold on.

A Prayer for You

Father God, I come before Your throne humbled and hungry for Your power in my life and in my relationships. I add my name to this prayer list, and I add those I love who are hurting, broken, and discouraged. Give me the grace and the strength to fast and pray like never before, to deny my flesh so that my spirit might be sharpened to hear Your voice and see Your hand move. Heal what
